SERGEANT STAR FACEBOOK INTERFACE IS LIVE
Next IT to boost the accessibility of GoArmy.com’s Virtual Guide through
social media site.
SPOKANE, Wash. (June 1, 2010) – Today Next IT Corporation and the United States Army Accessions Command (USAAC) announced enhancements to Sergeant STAR on goarmy.com to support an integrated user engagement strategy, by extending the site’s Virtual Guide into additional communication channels.
Prospects now have the ability to share Sergeant STAR's responses with their friends on Facebook. While chatting with Sergeant STAR on goarmy.com, a Share Response on Facebook button is now available within the Virtual Guide’s window. Once a user clicks on this button, they have the opportunity to enter a comment before posting the response to their Facebook profile. The prospect’s Facebook friends will be see the original question asked, as well as Sergeant STAR’s response and a link to supporting information on goarmy.com.
Next IT is also working on an application available this fall that can be added to a user’s Facebook page which would allow that person to ask Sergeant STAR a question while logged-in to Facebook and post the response to their profile. Additionally, Sergeant STAR will be able to send and receive text messages this fall, allowing prospects to engage in a conversation or ask questions about Army life while away from a computer.
In the future, Next IT will create a Sergeant STAR interface for mobile Web users, enabling users to interact with Sergeant STAR like they currently do on a computer via a mobile Web browser.
"We are excited about enhancing Sergeant STAR in a way that will continue to engage prospects and raise the bar for Virtual Expert technology,” said Founder and CEO of Next IT, Fred Brown.“With the popularity and ease of mobile browsing and texting, fewer people are sitting in front of a computer. By increasing Sergeant STAR’s accessibility, potential recruits will still be able to get the information they want, only now they will be able to do it whenever and wherever they want."
Sergeant STAR has been successfully engaging potential U.S. Army recruits as a Virtual Guide to Army life for over three years. Since implementing Next IT’s Human Emulation Software, ActiveAgent™, on goarmy.com Sergeant STAR has answered over 4 million questions. The U.S. Army and Next IT continue to explore deeper ways to utilize Sergeant STAR and Next IT’s technology across more of the U.S. Army’s recruiting and communications strategy, including a contract recently awarded to Next IT to implement an ActiveAgent Virtual Expert for the U.S. Army’s Recruiter’s Workstation.
